Women from all over the North West will came together this week in a bid to break a world record. In 2005 11,500 women came together for an event entitled 'Field of Women'.
The event will provide the opportunity to raise a substantial amount of money and awareness for breast cancer. The monies raised will be used to purchase new medical and surgical equipment and fund new medical research into breast cancer at The Linda McCartney Centre.
In the UK there are around 41,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The 'Field of Women' is set to be the one of the largest single charity events of 2008. It will give those affected by breast cancer, and their family and friends, the opportunity to gain and give support to others affected by breast cancer. The information provided for the event will dispel myths, answer questions and give a list of useful numbers for a wide range of practical and emotional support.
The Linda McCartney Centre is highly regarded by the NHS for its ability to treat the most complex of diseases, especially those affected by breast cancer. The centre was established to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients and their families, reducing the stress and anxiety some may encounter, making a visit here that little more bearable.
Tom Southern, Fundraising Director, The Linda McCartney Centre, "If you would like to make a difference to those affected by breast cancer please come along to the presentation. This will be the largest event we have ever organised and it will help us continue to provide the very best treatment, care and support to those who need to attend the centre
